Equinox Understanding

To believe that you are singular or particularly unique
is your first and greatest betrayal. Body wrapped in a riddle,
the future is a cavern, is my split tongue, is a wiped slate
of ambition dawning on me in reveals of eight line segments.

I want to know something as well as the salmon do when they trickle
homebound forever, the easy mystery of seeing your fellow friends’ fins flail
as the sun learns to tuck itself inwards to better observe
the patient, steady dissolve of bones into containers for new poems.
