Ellery Beck

Pocket Pastoral

Hey honey—
I’m picking these clouds
from the sky, for you, saving the vapor
blooms in a little bag
for later. Please, honey, be
patient, I’m arranging these bits
of stratosphere into a bouquet, into something
we can carry and keep. Let’s pull down
this heavy blue above us, lets swim
in that simulated sea, looking
for more stars, my love. Here
honey—let’s find ourselves further
into this landscape, further
from somewhere we can place our feet.
