Tick Season

Springs got a grin
full of honeybees

and frogs fucking
on their slippery beds.

Suddenly, it’s April
and we’re innocent again

carrying the soft words
dandelions love to chew on

listening to flies cuss
in the almost-holy light.

We brought a bloodsucker
back from the river who loves

the stuff our bones swim in.
We put our clothes

in a pile and burn them, cradle
ourselves in all this sweet devouring.
