Say

I. My Name

A friend once
told me that
inner lip tattoos
only last a few
years. More
specifically,
they usually
last one to
five years
before they
begin to fade,
but may never
completely
disappear,
leaving a mark
for the rest
of your life.
You probably
already know
it, but this is
a love poem.

II. Your Name

You ever had
a pill catch on
the back of
your tongue,
melt before
you can wash
it away with
water? And
till you down
something
strong like
spice or sugar,
be plagued by
unmistakeable
bitter and choke?
This, too, is
a love poem.
